About us

It all started with a weird obsession. The obsession for creating things. Anything. It could be a brownie, a bookshelf, a pair of earrings as a parting gift for a friend. And when you spend a tad bit too much obsessing over something, it starts to look a lot like love. Mridah is made out of that love.

Art is meant to be good. It is meant to do good.

Before we even came up with the name Mridah, we knew we wanted to build a community of and for people who love art, irrespective of where they are from. Our team of artisans has been handpicked from underrepresented communities. All of these amazing people share their love for creating art. We find them, train them, and hone them. Today, we have a team of 20 artisans skilled in various crafts.  Tomorrow, we shall work with thousands of artisans from hundreds of communities to make art and freedom accessible to all.

The people behind Mridah. It all started when Laya Keerthi Kondpalli (yes, one person) fell in love with a pair of terracotta earrings at a flea market but couldn’t afford it. Good art shouldn’t be unaffordable, she felt. With Mridah, it isn’t. She channelled 8 years of experience as Chief Product Designer into creating Mridah. She brought along Varun, the founder from her previous venture to join her as a co-founder of Mridah. In March 2023, we had nothing but an idea. Today, we are a community.
